Being kind to myself has not always been my strong 'suit', and because I am the primary caregiver for my cherubs and a working mother : I find that this a multifaceted role that often comes with its share of challenges and moments of joy. As I walk this very often zig-zaggy path myself, the importance of cultivating a mindset of kindness is becoming more and more important. Allow me to peel back the layers and delve into why embracing kindness is a deeply, profound journey of transformation.
In the whirlwind of responsibilities, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and disconnected. Balancing work, caregiving, and personal well-being can be a delicate fine-line-tip-toeing-tight rope walk, and in this intricate routine, kindness can sometimes be forgotten. Being 'kind' to myself, and therefore to others is a deliberate effort to address the pain points many of us experience – the moments when stress creeps in, when self-care takes a backseat, or when communication falters in the midst of our busy lives.
Kindness acts as a powerful lens through which we can view our challenges differently. Instead of seeing obstacles, we can view them as opportunities for growth and connection. By incorporating intentional acts of kindness into our daily lives, we start to shift our perspective, finding beauty in the small moments and joy in unexpected places.
The 'Kindness Bingo' card, I've created, goes beyond the surface level of completing tasks; it's about infusing your days with moments of joy. Whether it's a heartfelt conversation, a shared laugh, or a small act of generosity, these activities are designed to break through the monotony and bring genuine joy into your life. It's a conscious effort to counter the common pitfall of routine-induced stress and find happiness in the ordinary.

Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.” Albert Schweitzer.

In the spirit of unity and respect, I acknowledge and pay my heartfelt respect to the traditional custodians of Whadjak country, the Noongar people. I stand on this ancient land with deep appreciation for their enduring connection to country, culture, and community. As we gather and work together, may we honor the wisdom of the Noongar elders, past, present, and emerging, and strive to nurture a harmonious relationship with the land, its stories, and its people.
